A Wichita Fire Department squad truck was involved in an accident at Lincoln and Washington on Friday morning while responding with lights and siren to a house fire, a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said.
The squad truck was eastbound on Lincoln about 7:45 a.m. and had stopped at a red light and then proceeded with caution into the intersection when it was struck by a northbound Ford Taurus, police said.
The driver of the Taurus sustained minor injuries and was taken to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis, the supervisor said. No firefighters were injured.
Police said the driver was cited for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.
