Seven-minute chase leads to man arrested on suspicion of 26 charges

A police pursuit that lasted seven minutes resulted in a 22-year-old Wichita man being arrested and booked into Sedgwick County Jail on Thursday on suspicion of 26 charges, including driving under the influence, according to the jail’s booking report.

The chase began at 2:04 a.m. in southwest Wichita and ended at 2:11 a.m. near Harry and Bebe, between West Street and I-235, and reached speeds of 90 mph in a 40-mph zone, according to a Wichita police report.

Among the laws the man is suspected of violating are: five counts of running a stop sign, driving on the wrong side of the road, one count of speeding, two counts of driving around tire deflation devices and resisting arrest, the police report said.

He was also being held for another law enforcement agency, the jail report said.
