Eight families will soon move into new homes in north Wichita.
Wichita Habitat for Humanity will break ground on its newest development, Cottonwood Corner, at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The development is at the corner of 27th Street and Fairview, just west of Broadway.
Seven houses will be built this year; the eighth and final house in the development will be completed next year. The homes will be built with the help of hundreds of volunteers and the financial support of several project partners. The lead gift for the project was provided by the Goebel Family-Star Lumber Charitable Foundation.
Wichita Habitat for Humanity will serve hot dogs, chips and cake at the public groundbreaking ceremony.
