Wichita, area pools now open

Wichita’s city pools, which open Monday, will be open fewer hours this summer, with all pools closing for the season earlier in August.
“We had to shorten hours because we have less funding in aquatics than last year,” said Karen Holmes, recreation superintendent for the city of Wichita.
That means lifeguards will be more spread out, she said, and managers and assistant managers will be sharing duties at pools occasionally.
Wichita’s city pools will close Aug. 4; last year, some pools stayed open until Aug. 11.
Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for children under 18 or $8 per family (up to six people).
Discount coupons are available at each pool: $60 for 50 coupons or $40 for 25 coupons. Each coupon admits one child or one adult.
Season passes to Wichita public pools are also available: $50 for an individual, $150 for a family of up to four ($25 for each additional family member).
YMCA pools in Wichita and suburban pools and water parks opened this past weekend or are opening Monday.
