The president of Wichita State University has said he has always known when his honeymoon period will end as the new leader.
It will end, John Bardo has said, when a big section of WSU parking lot is sealed off for construction, on a campus where parking is always at a premium.
That day arrives Sunday.
A big section of the parking lot area at the northwest corner of the campus will close. It’s the section, containing about 800 spaces, located south of Cessna Stadium and north of Morrison Hall.
School is out for the summer, a time the university planned for. But those spaces are gone for good; a new residence hall will be built there.
Construction equipment will be take to the site the week of May 27, the university said in a statement..
Administrators plan to add 400 parking spaces along 21st Street east of Corbin Education Center. Those spaces are scheduled to be available in mid- to late-July, but won’t make up for the loss: 800 spaces as of Sunday.
