Winfield teacher placed on leave after allegations of sexual misconduct

Cowley County law enforcement authorities are investigating an accusation that a Winfield high school teacher has had improper sexual contact with students.

Cowley County law enforcement authorities are investigating an accusation that a Winfield high school teacher has had improper sexual contact with students.

The allegations were made Friday, according to Cowley County Attorney Christopher Smith, when both the school and law enforcement officials were notified.

The teacher was placed on paid leave on Monday morning, said J.K. Campbell, Winfield’s school superintendent.

“The safety of our students is our top priority,” Campbell said. “We will continue to cooperate with authorities.”
