Two men were arrested early Monday morning after a witness reported hearing numerous shots fired in southwest Wichita, police said.
Officers responding to the call shortly before 2:30 a.m. Monday found several shell casings in the street at Gold and Benway, Lt. Doug Nolte said. That’s near Seneca and 31st Street South.
A witness reported seeing a black SUV immediately after the shots were heard and officers found a black SUV not far away, parked in the 300 block of West Benway, Nolte said. When they spotted a spent shell casing in plain sight next to the vehicle, they went to the house and questioned the two men who were there.
The questioning led to the men, ages 27 and 29, being taken into custody on suspicion of varying offenses.
No injuries or damage were reported in connection with the incident, Nolte said.
