Sheriff’s Office asks motorists to avoid zoo, park area Saturday

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is asking motorists to avoid the area around Sedgwick County Park and Sedgwick County Zoo between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4.

The advisory is being issued because of large events being held in the area, the office said in an e-mail Friday.

The events include the Color Me Rad 5K run at Sedgwick County Park, the farmers market at the Sedgwick County Extension Building and World Penguin Day at Sedgwick County Zoo. These activities are in addition to sporting events at the complex at 13th and Ridge, the statement said.

The Sheriff’s Office will have deputies in the area to help with traffic control.
