Trial under way for man charged in south Wichita homicide

Jury selection got under way Monday in the second-degree murder trial of a man who shot another man to death during a confrontation outside his south Wichita home.

Dustin Cheever, 32, is charged in the death of Robert Gammon, 49. Wichita police have said that Gammon was armed with a pellet gun when he was shot. The shooting occurred on May 19, 2012, outside Gammon’s home in the 100 block of East 44th Street South.

The trial is being held in the courtroom of District Judge Joseph Bribiesca.
