Household hazardous wastes will be collected from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Valley Center’s City Hall, 121 S. Meridian.

There will be no charge for dropping off the items, said Susan Erlenwein, the county’s director of environmental resources.

Household items such as paints, oils and cleaning chemicals will be accepted. Old prescription medicines – except those that are a controlled substance – may also be dropped off, Erlenwein said.

Tires won’t be accepted, she added. The collection is paid by solid waste fees.
