Two Nebraska men were killed after their truck crashed into a semi Tuesday evening in Pawnee County, the Kansas Highway Patrol said in a crash report.

The men, of Schuyler, Neb., were headed east on U.S. 56 near Larned when one lost control of a 2003 Ford F150 and drifted into westbound traffic, according to the highway patrol. The truck then smashed into a 2005 Peterbuilt semi pulling a trailer around 8 p.m.

The impact killed 23-year-old Efrain Carrera-Portillo at the scene, the KHP said. Fidel Portillo-Moyao, 33, who was driving the truck, died later at a Larned hospital.

The semi driver – identified as Eric William Peters, 31, of Gretna, Neb. – was not hurt, the highway patrol said.
