Wichita police are investigating the Tuesday morning robbery of Shurtz Custom Cues in which several thousand dollars worth of billiard cues were taken.
In turn, police are asking for help in identifying the people who might have been involved in the break-in.
The incident happened shortly before 6 a.m. Tuesday in the 2000 block of South Washington, near Mount Vernon.
Police believe burglars entered the business from a furnace vent on the roof, according to Lt. Doug Nolte, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department.
“They ripped back the roof and made entry into the furnace room where they then had access to the business,” Nolte said.
The store’s alarm sounded shortly before 7 a.m. alerting both the police and the store’s owner.
The thieves then exited the business and left some evidence behind, Nolte said.
“This was a unique burglary in terms of what was taken,” Nolte said. “There may be people within the community who hear and see something that might spark a memory or a curiosity.”
People who might have information on the case are encouraged to call police detectives at 316-268-4646 or Crime Stoppers, where the caller can remain anonymous, at 316-267-2111.
