Two people were taken to a local hospital for treatment following a one-car crash that knocked out power to some nearby Westar customers early Monday morning, authorities said.
The crash occurred at 1:17 a.m. when a car struck a power pole in the area of 17th and Oliver, a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said. The two people inside the car were taken to Wesley Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
About 230 Westar customers in the area lost power between 4 and 6 a.m. as a result of the crash, company spokeswoman Gina Penzig said.
Police are investigating whether alcohol played a role in the crash, Lt. Joe Schroeder said.
