A 59-year-old man has been arrested in the wake of an altercation that sent his roommate to the hospital with a stab wound shortly after noon on Thursday, police said.

The 65-year-old victim was stabbed once in the lower abdomen at about noon on Thursday at 622 S. Barlow in southeast Wichita, police reports indicate.

“It was apparent it was fairly serious,” Lt. Doug Nolte said of the stab wound.

The victim was taken to Wesley Medical Center, where he underwent surgery. Police are hoping to talk to him to determine a motive for the attack, Nolte said.

A small knife has been identified as the weapon.
