Police are seeking assistance in identifying two teenagers who confronted and assaulted a younger boy and then took his bike at a south Wichita park Tuesday night.
The 14-year-old boy was taken to a local hospital for treatment after the attack shortly after 6:30 p.m. at Aley Park in the 1800 block of South Seneca, Lt. Doug Nolte said. A 12-year-old boy who was riding a scooter with the victim fell and injured his wrist while trying to escape the attackers, he said.
The two suspects, whom the victims said appeared to be 15 or 16 years old, beat and kicked the 14-year-old boy and then stole his 20-inch black Mongoose bike, Nolte said. A third teen may have been accompanying the suspects, the victims told police.
The boy was taken to Via Christi Hospital on East Harry for treatment and observation after complaining of dizziness in the wake of the attack, Nolte said.
The assault occurred not far from the swimming pool at the park. Anyone who witnessed the incident or saw teens riding a bike quickly from the park shortly after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday is encouraged to call 911, Nolte said.
