The Wichita school district’s website was recognized by the Sunshine Review with its 2013 Sunny Award, which honors transparency in government.
The award “recognizes governments that are doing an exemplary job at proactively disclosing information to taxpayers, said Michael Barnhart, president of the Sunshine Review, in a news release on the organization’s website.
For the annual award, more than 1,000 government websites – cities, counties and school districts – were reviewed and graded on a 10-point transparency checklist. Sunshine Review editors looked at content available online in such areas as budgets, meetings, contracts, academic performance, public records and taxes.
