The College of Engineering at Wichita State University awarded 10 high school seniors Wallace Scholarships, totaling $200,000, the university said in a statement.
Each will have a four-year renewable scholarship for $20,000.
Each student is evaluated for criteria including high school GPAs, ACT scores and performance at the annual Wallace Invitational for Scholarships in Engineering.
Longtime benefactors Dwane and Velma Wallace Endowment created the scholarship in 1976. It supports engineering students and provides money for the College of Engineering. Since 1980, 270 engineering students have graduated as Wallace Scholars, the university said.
