Four people were arrested on suspicion of stealing guns and firing them into the air about 2 a.m. Friday, police said.

Police received a call about gunshots in the 4400 block of East Pawnee, near George Washington Boulevard.

The four suspects — three 17-year-old boys and one 22-year-old man — were walking down the street shooting the guns in the air, said Sgt. Bruce Watts.

Two were immediately caught and two got away.

Upon questioning, police learned that two of the missing suspects were hiding inside a house in the 2300 block of South Crestway.

The four people had broken into the house and had been living there four or five days while the elderly homeowners were out of town, police said.

Police went to the house, where they found the two suspects.

The house had sustained damage including graffiti, holes in the walls, a stopped-up sewer and food thrown around, police said.

The four were arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft and multiple firearms violations.
