A melee at a bar in south Wichita sent four people to local hospitals early Saturday.
Police said the four victims – two men and two women – were leaving Southrock Billiards & Sports Bar, 2020 S. Rock Road, about 2 a.m. when one of the women spotted a male acquaintance who was entering the bar with three other men.
The acquaintance gave her a hug, but the woman’s current boyfriend thought the hug lasted a little too long, said Sgt. Bruce Watts. Words were exchanged, and the four men who were entering jumped the four people who were leaving.
The four victims went to Via Christi Hospital on Harry in private vehicles with cuts from an unknown object, Watts said.
Two were transported to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis with injuries that were more serious, he said.
The four men who jumped them left the scene.
