Wichita weather: Winter storm warning into Thursday night

The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a winter storm warning until 6 p.m. Thursday for 13 counties in Kansas, including the Wichita metropolitan area.
Light snow is expected to begin in the Wichita area during the morning commute Wednesday, with perhaps a total of 2 inches falling throughout the day, forecasters say. The heaviest snow is anticipated Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
Snow accumulations from the storm will range from 4 to 8 inches along a line from Kingman to Wichita to Eureka, according to the National Weather Service. Far southern and southeast Kansas can expect 1 to 4 inches, with central Kansas receiving 10 to 15 inches.
Highs today will be in the upper 20s to low 30s, with temperatures dropping only a few degrees overnight. More snow, sleet and freezing drizzle in the area on Thursday.
