Man shot in foot admits playing around with gun

A 20-year-old man who walked into Wesley Medical Center at 2 p.m. Friday had been shot in the foot and told police that he had been hit in a drive-by shooting.

A 20-year-old man who walked into Wesley Medical Center at 2 p.m. Friday had been shot in the foot and told police that he had been hit in a drive-by shooting.

But he later admitted that he was shot when he and a 17-year-old friend were playing around with a gun, said Sgt. Bruce Watts of the Wichita Police Department.

The shooting happened in the 3000 block of East Carmen, near 21st and Hillside, Watts said. The 17-year-old later was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
