The deadline for area residents who received a social and health needs survey from the United Way of the Plains has been extended to Feb. 15. The original deadline was Wednesday.
The survey was mailed Jan. 25 to more than 7,000 randomly selected households in Sedgwick, Butler, Harvey, Reno and Sumner counties and asks for their input on social and health needs.
The survey is conducted every three years. This year it is being done in collaboration with Via Christi Health and Sedgwick County Health Department.
So far 934 surveys have been returned, United Way spokesman Delane Butler said. When the survey was done in 2010, about 1,000 households responded.
In addition to the randomly mailed survey, other community residents can go to www.unitedwayplains.org/survey and complete an electronic version of the survey.
The results will help the organizations identify unmet needs in the community, provide information to volunteers and government agencies and help direct funds to the most urgently needed programs.
