New driver’s license office opens next week in Andover

A new driver’s licensing office in Andover will feature technology that allows customers to reserve a spot in line from their cellphone or computer, state officials announced in a news release.

A new driver’s licensing office in Andover will feature technology that allows customers to reserve a spot in line from their cellphone or computer, state officials announced in a news release.

The office, which opens Tuesday at 640 N. Andover Road, will replace the current Andover site. It will offer driving tests, renewals and new licenses.

“As Andover and Butler County have grown, our old driver licensing office has become too small for the area’s needs,” said Donna Shelite, director of vehicles for the Kansas Department of Revenue, in the news release.

The Andover office will be the sixth in Kansas to feature the new QLess line management system. Customers can join the line by texting “Andover DL” to 714-333-1234. They also can sign in online at ksrevenue.org/qless.html.

Once they have a place in line, customers can roam freely while they wait, staying at work or running errands instead of having to sit and wait in the office, officials said. The system will send updates via text alerting them as their number progresses to the front of the line.

The new Andover office will be open Tuesday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.
