Wichitan Kamerion Wimbley, a defensive end for the Tennessee Titans, won a three-man NFL player cookoff on the “Rachael Ray” show that aired Friday morning.
Wimbley had the best recipe as determined by former NFL player and Fox analyst Tony Siragusa. Wimbley created andouille sausage and shrimp over grits, a timely recipe given the Super Bowl on Sunday is in New Orleans. Wimbley won a large, Super Bowl-style ring.
“The shrimp was cooked perfectly,” Siragusa said. “When I ate it, (the dish) exploded in my mouth.”
Recipes that didn’t win were candied yams by New York Giants tight end Martellus Bennett and brown stew chicken by Indianapolis Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney.

A quarterback, punter and linebacker at Northwest High, Wimbley played defensive end at Florida State and was a first-round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. He was drafted by Cleveland and played four seasons for the Browns, then spent two seasons in Oakland before playing this season for Tennessee.
