Wichita magnet schools open for visitation this week

Parents considering Wichita magnet programs for their children for the 2013-14 school year can visit schools this week.

For a visitation schedule, go to magnet.usd259.org.

The district offers technology, foreign language, fine arts and traditional magnet schools, among others. It also has alternative high schools, career development schools and other special programs.

The most popular schools typically have waiting lists. Open slots are filled by lottery.

Application forms for magnet school admission are available on the website or at any magnet school. Forms also can be picked up at the magnet admissions office in the Alvin Morris Administrative Center, 201 N. Water.

The application deadline is 4:45 p.m. Feb. 15.
