Authorities are investigating how a five-month-old boy suffered a broken leg last week in south Wichita.
The boy’s mother brought him to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis to find out why he was being so fussy – especially when he was moved, Wichita police Lt. Doug Nolte said. An examination revealed his right femur was broken.
The mother said her baby sitter had called her Thursday to say the child was being unusually fussy. When he didn’t improve by Friday, the mother brought him to the hospital, Nolte said.
The Exploited and Missing Child Unit was notified. There were several people in the house where the baby was being cared for while his mother was at work, Nolte said, and they have all been interviewed.
No arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified.
