A 53-year-old woman has been arrested in the Thursday night stabbing death of another woman at the Shadybrook Senior Apartments in northeast Wichita.
Wichita police Lt. Todd Ojile said Friday that the suspect and 22-year-old victim were neighbors who had been arguing for the past few weeks. Ojile did not say what the women were arguing about, and no names were released.
Police were called to the building at 4925 Shadybrook at about 10:30 p.m. and found the victim, who had been stabbed several times in the torso, unresponsive in her apartment. She was taken to Wesley Medical Center, where she later died.
Ojile said the victim was able to hit a panic button in her apartment after she was stabbed, and she was found by an employee of the complex who was responding to the alarm.
Ojile said the suspect was taken into custody at the building and later booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder.
