Man hospitalized after beating at hotel party in Old Town

A man beaten at a downtown hotel gathering Sunday didn’t think his injuries were too bad — until Tuesday night rolled around and he was still in a lot of pain.

When he went to Wesley Medical Center for treatment, police said, he was found to have multiple skull fractures, a fractured jaw and broken orbital bones.

The 27-year-old victim told police he was at a party at the Courtyard by Marriott at 820 E. Second, Lt. Doug Nolte said. A man he didn’t know, who is also about 27, began beating him, he said.

He went to the hospital after his face swelled up and the pain didn’t go away. Police are investigating the assault.
