Recent parolee charged in 10 robberies

A 34-year-old man has been charged with 10 robberies spanning a four-week period in east Wichita.
Muhammad Waliallah was charged Tuesday afternoon in Sedgwick County District Court with nine counts of aggravated robbery and one count of robbery, authorities said.
The crime spree began Nov. 1 at the Family Dollar Store at 814 S. Woodlawn. Waliallah is also accused of robbing the Sav-A-Lot at 2404 S. George Washington Boulevard on Nov. 7, Smoker Friendly at 6659 E. Harry on Nov. 13 (two charges), a Papa John’s delivery driver at 913 S. Governeour on Nov. 15, the Walgreens at 5505 E. Harry on Nov. 19, the Coastal Mart at 7101 E. Lincoln on Nov. 21 and 23, the D & T convenience store at 895 S. Woodlawn on Nov. 28, and Lamar’s Liquor Stop at 1014 W. Pawnee on Dec. 6.
Waliallah was paroled in September after serving a sentence for a second-degree murder conviction in Wyandotte County, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections website.
His bond on the robbery charges was set at $100,000. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 26.
