Two men robbed a couple outside a strip mall early Wednesday morning, Wichita police said.

The robbery occurred about 3:10 a.m. in the 4300 block of West Central, police Lt. Joe Schroeder said.

Schroeder gave this account: A 32-year-old man reported that he had been drinking at a business and said that when he and a 21-year-old woman left, their vehicle wouldn’t start. When the man got out, two men confronted him. One had a black semiautomatic handgun. The 32-year-old man broke free, and a second suspect took the woman’s cellphone.

The robbers, both described as 23-year-old Hispanic men about 6 feet tall, weighing 230 pounds and wearing blue clothing, left in a vehicle described as a red Lincoln four-door truck, Schroeder said.
