A 24-year-old Cowley County man faces nine years in federal prison on child pornography charges, federal prosecutors announced Friday.

Curtis J. Schooley, of Burden, was sentenced to the term after he pleaded guilty to a single count each of possessing and distributing the sexually explicit material electronically, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom’s office said in a news release.

An FBI investigation based in New Haven, Conn., led a task force agent to Schooley in June 2011. The agent downloaded several pornographic images through a file sharing program from “joshsmith.” Some included a man “engaged in a sex act with a prepubescent girl,” Grissom’s office said.

Schooley — identified by investigators as “joshsmith” — was found with more child porn after FBI agents executed a search warrant at his Burden home.

Grissom’s office said some of the children featured in Schooley’s photos have been identified in other sex crime investigations.
