Wichita police officers issued 229 speeding tickets during the week-long special traffic enforcement project that spanned the Thanksgiving holiday period.
More than 450 violations were cited during the Special Traffic Enforcement Project that went from November 18 to 25, Lt. Joe Schroeder said. Those numbers included the speeding citations, 135 seat belt violations, 4 driving under the influence cases and 114 other traffic violations.
A state grant paid for more than 191 hours of overtime for officers working on the project, Schroeder said.
