Wichita police are investigating an aggravated robbery incident that happened around midnight Thursday in the 2500 block of West 31st South.
A man told police he was home alone in his apartment when he heard a knock on the door. He went to the door and heard a man speaking Vietnamese on the other side stating his car had been broken into, according to Lt. Doug Nolte, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department.
When the man opened the door, the person rushed through, carrying a large knife. He held the homeowner at bay with the knife and used zip ties to tie him up. He took credit cards and cash before leaving.
After he was gone, the victim crawled outside his apartment and began yelling for help. He told police he was outside for about an hour before a passerby found him and called 911.
Nolte said police are now searching for an Asian man who is between 30 and 40 years old, about 5-foot-6 and 130 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and a black mask.
