A man posing as a Wichita police officer in plain clothes stole two arcade games from a west Wichita convenience store, authorities said.
The man had a badge on a lanyard around his neck and showed the clerk at the Valero at 1826 W. 13th St. some papers he said gave him authority to remove the machines, Lt. Doug Nolte said.. A second man began removing the machines as the man posing as an officer spoke with the 22-year-old clerk at about 4 p.m. Wednesday.
The clerk was suspicious that the suspect wasn’t a real officer and called 911, but the two men left in a blue van with the machines before officers arrived, Nolte said.
The suspect is a white man who is about 30, the clerk told police. He is 5-feet-10 and 190 pounds. He has brown hair and wore a white shirt and blue jeans.
The van has damage on the front fender, the clerk told police. Anyone with information about the incident or the suspects is encouraged to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
