15 recruits graduating from law enforcement training academy

A graduation ceremony is set for today for 15 members of the fall class of the Wichita/Sedgwick County Law Enforcement Training Academy.

The class includes 9 new officers for the Wichita Police Department and 6 new Sedgwick County Sheriff’s officers. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at Central Community Church, 6100 West Maple.

The recruits have completed 23 weeks of basic training, and will now embark on 12 weeks of field training that includes being paired with experienced officers while on duty.
