A security guard at Wesley Medical Center was injured Friday night when he was dragged by a vehicle driven by two men he had tried to stop from skateboarding in a construction area at the hospital, police said.

Police said the guard asked the men to leave when he saw them on skateboards about 7:45 p.m., but they refused.

When he went to their vehicle to get its tag number, they jumped inside and backed away, catching the guard and pulling him into the driver’s window.

Sgt. Jim Pinegar said the officer was dragged about 30 feet, and suffered a broken hand and lacerations.

The suspects escaped.
