The Wichita school board will recognize students Monday who aren’t at the top of their class but who go to school, follow the rules and earn good grades.

The 99 Percent Awards, presented quarterly, recognize one student from each middle and high school in Wichita.

Guidance counselors work within their schools to identify students for the award. To be considered, students must have at least 90 percent attendance, pass all their classes and have no discipline referrals.

The school board plans to recognize the following students during a ceremony at 6 p.m. on Monday in the North High cafeteria, 1437 Rochester:

Middle schools: Carlos Renteria, Allison; Adara Corbin, Brooks; Kevin Phan, Christa McAuliffe; Katrina Ly, Coleman; Gilberto Portillo, Curtis; Mercy Otiato, Gordon Parks; Jahdiel Flores, Hadley; Casey Dunn, Hamilton; Samantha Ruvalcaba, Horace Mann; Nohemi Pineda, Jardine; Issac Hernandez, Marshall; Ambur Wills, Mayberry; Brian Ortiz, Mead; Austin Del Real, Pleasant Valley; Cassandra “Cassie” Straws, Robinson; Terry Wallace, Stucky; Brittany Zachare, Truesdell; Sam Siebuhr, Wells Alternative; Aayah Elsukar, Wilbur.
