John Bardo will be inaugurated as Wichita State University president Friday. The public is invited, university officials said.
The ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. Friday in the Eugene M. Hughes Metropolitan Complex, 5015 E. 29th St. N. Gov. Sam Brownback will be among several speakers.
Bardo took over the job on July 1, replacing Don Beggs. He is the former chancellor of Western Carolina University.
He formerly worked at WSU for about ten years, an assistant professor of sociology. He also worked and taught in the Hugo Wall Center for Urban Studies.
Bardo’s academic interests involve the relationships between higher education, the economy and quality of life. He speaks regularly on issues associated with the new economy and building competitiveness.
Bardo will deliver the inaugural address.
