Three Wichita teachers got thousands of dollars worth of office supplies this week as part of OfficeMax’s “A Day Made Better” project.
Jessica Garriott, a speech-language pathologist at Griffith Elementary; Jodi Morgan, a second-grade teacher at Clark Elementary; and Karen Laws, a first-grade teacher at Irving Elementary, were nominated by their principals for the award and surprised in their classrooms Wednesday.
OfficeMax representatives gave each teacher a large box of classroom supplies, which included pencils, paper, file folders, pencil sharpeners, books and a digital camera. Each teacher also received a new desk chair.
“It’s nice to be noticed,” Morgan said in a statement from the Wichita district. “I have to admit, I like the chair. It’s more comfortable than the wood chair I’ve sat in my entire teaching career.”
Never miss a local story.
Office Max also donated supplies to each school to be shared with all staff. The supplies were purchased as part of the stores’ Adopt-a-Classroom program, which allows customers to purchase additional school supplies to be donated to schools.
