A family quarrel turned violent Monday morning when a 17-year-old boy pulled out a knife and stabbed his father in south Wichita, police said.
The incident occurred at 11:40 a.m. as the boy’s father was driving the family SUV in the 2400 block of West Orient, Lt. Doug Nolte said. Orient is just west of Meridian and roughly midway between Kellogg and Pawnee.
Another family member in the SUV called 911 and the father pulled over to the curb. The teen was arrested and booked into the juvenile detention facility.
His father was taken to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis, where his stab wound was treated. That wound is not life-threatening, Nolte said, but the man was admitted for observation because of concern the wound could aggravate pre-existing conditions.
