The Wichita Police Department is encouraging residents to host block parties or other community gatherings in honor of Celebrate Safe Communities, set for Oct. 2.
The event runs from 6 to 10 p.m. Its goal is to unite Wichitans with their neighbors and local law enforcement.
Celebrate Safe Communities replaces National Night Out, held annually in August. The police department last year decided to delay the celebration to help residents avoid summer heat.
Officers and city officials plan to visit parties registered with the department. Sign-up is available online at www.wichita.gov/cityoffices/police or by calling 316-268-4239 with your party’s time and location.
Never miss a local story.
