Wichita police have released the name of a man whose body was found this weekend floating in the Little Arkansas River near Central Riverside Park.
Wichita fire crews recovered the body of Vincent Manuel, 54, from the river around 11 a.m. Saturday. Two kayakers saw his body floating in the water near Riverside Park around 10 a.m. that morning and called 911.
Authorities were still unsure Tuesday morning what killed Manuel, Wichita police Lt. Doug Nolte said. Police said Monday the body showed no signs of trauma and an autopsy was inconclusive.
Manuel’s body was fully clothed, and he carried identification, police said Saturday. Emergency crews used a boat to pull Manuel’s body out of the water just north of the Nims Street Bridge between Central Avenue and Stackman Drive. The man had floated at least 20 yards from the time crews first responded to the call.
