Sedgwick County residents who meet certain income guidelines can have their dogs or cats spayed or neutered for $10 under a voucher program being offered by the city of Wichita and Spay-Neuter Kansas.
Participants must have a total household income not exceeding $40,000 per year and must attend an educational session on responsible pet ownership at noon, 1 or 2 p.m. June 30 at Linwood Recreation Center, 1901 S. Kansas.
Qualifying pet owners will receive approval that day and schedule their pet’s spay or neuter surgery. The offer is for one $10 surgery per family.
Pets whose families qualify can also receive $5 vaccinations, and $15 microchips for pit bulls and pit mixes, at the time of surgery only. The city requires all pit bulls to be spayed or neutered, microchipped and licensed.
Pet owners must bring proof of income, or a current Vision card, and photo ID to the informational session. Do not bring pets to this event.
