McConnell moving jets as severe storms approach Wichita

McConnell Air Force Base began relocating some of its aircraft today in anticipation of the severe weather that is expected to move into the area tonight.

McConnell Air Force Base began relocating some of its aircraft today in anticipation of the severe weather that is expected to move into the area tonight.

McConnell spokeswoman Jessica Brown said the jets were being moved because of the increasing storm alerts and the potential for damaging hail.

The National Weather Service said a weather system that has prompted several tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings in Western Kansas is expected to move into the Wichita area after 6 p.m..
