Police tonight are looking for a blue pickup that was involved in a gang-related shooting that sent a man to a hospital in serious condition.
Lt. James Espinoza said the shooting occurred about 6:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of North Lewellen, which is southwest of 13th and Waco. The victim, a man in his late teen or early 20s, was taken to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis.
Espinoza said the victim and his attackers exchanged words in the street before someone in the pickup opened fire.
DeLana Raatz, who lives across the street from the victim’s home, said she was in her kitchen when she heard four of five shots that sounded like they came from a large-caliber handgun.
“We’ve been here 20 years and this is the first time we’ve had a shooting, she said. “We’ve had all sorts of other stuff.”
