Events surrounding 81st anniversary of Knute Rockne plane crash expanded

Planned events surrounding the 81st anniversary of the Knute Rockne plane crash set for March 30-April 1 have been expanded.
Events will include the unveiling of the 1932 Rockne Family Studebaker at the Chase County Historical Museum. They also will include food, live music, movies and tours of the Chase County Courthouse and Rockne crash site.
On March 30, from 5 to 7 p.m., there will be a reception and movie at The Cellar at Friendly D’s Oddities, and live music beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Emma Chase Music Hall. Cost is $25 for the evening. All events are in Cottonwood Falls.
On March 31, from 8 to 10 a.m., people are invited to a breakfast buffet at the Emma Chase Cafe, and a movie at 10:30 at The Cellar at Friendly D’s. There is lunch at noon at the Emma Chase Music Hall, and courthouse tours begin at 1 p.m.
From 1 to 3 p.m. there will be guided tours to the Rockne crash site. People are asked to meet at the Highway Department mixing strip at mile marker 65 on K-177, south of Cottonwood Falls.
At 5 p.m. the Rockne Studebaker will be presented, and at 6 p.m. at the Masonic Hall, there will be a banquet with Larry Tholen and Doug Rockne speaking on the history of the Studebaker. At 7:30 p.m., there will be live music at the Emma Chase Music Hall. Cost for the day is $90.
And, on April 1, events begin at 8 a.m. with a breakfast buffet at the Emma Chase Cafe, a movie at 10:30 a.m. at The Cellar at Friendly D’s and courthouse tours at 11 a.m. Cost is $25.
A commemorative T-shirt will sell for $17. Cost for all three days is $145, including the T-shirt.
