A local HIV and AIDS testing site is observing National Native AIDS/HIV Awareness Day by giving away free gifts to those checked today for the diseases.
Hunter Health Clinic is offering a free t-shirt and other items along with its daily HIV and AIDS testing from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the clinic, 2218 E. Central in Wichita. National Native HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, observed today, the recognizes the impact of HIV and AIDS among American Indians, Native Alaskans, Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders — groups who have the third and fourth highest rates of new HIV infections, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
HIV and AIDS tests — offered weekdays at the clinic — are free and confidential. Results are available within 20 minutes.
