Two adults were arrested and 16 juveniles issued citations when police broke up an underage drinking party at an east Wichita hotel this weekend.
The party was held on St. Patrick’s Day in a room at the Days Inn at 7321 E. Kellogg, Lt. Doug Nolte said. Officers were called to the hotel at around midnight.
“It’s a pretty significant party,” Nolte said.
More than 25 people were in the room when officers arrived, he said. Along with the youths cited, another 11 teens were present at the party.
Police did not issue citations to them because officers could not connect them to the alcohol present in the room. A 21-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of providing the alcohol to the minors.
The officers who responded to the report were doing special enforcement financed by the Juvenile Underage Drinking Group Education/Enforcement program, Nolte said.
