Two separate wrecks involving five vehicles brought the morning commute to a standstill on the Canal Route today, officials said.
The collisions were reported shortly before 7 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-135 at Ninth Street, blocking the route entirely, dispatchers said. Traffic was backed up for several miles, to at least the Kellogg interchange.
No injuries were reported, though the traffic snarl may well have made some commuters late for work. Northbound lanes were still not completely open as of 8:30 a.m.
Motorists may want to consider alternate routes as a precaution.
