A fifth man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 19-year-old man in Oaklawn last month, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office announced.
Malek Brown Jr., 21, was arrested without incident Sunday afternoon in the 800 block of South Hydraulic, Capt. Greg Pollock said.
Four cousins have already been charged in the death of Markez Phillips, who was killed at about 9 p.m. on Dec. 14 during a robbery at 3002 E. Locust. Facing charges of first-degree murder, aggravated burglary and two counts of aggravated robbery are Daniel Dupree, 21; Reginald Dupree, 19; Francis Dupree, 24; and Nicholas Dupree, 27.
Phillips was visiting his girlfriend at the time of the robbery, authorities have said. Brown is the last suspect linked to the crime, Pollock said.
